Special programmes can be set up specifically to manage, monitor and support an individual child when transferring to a mainstream school.
Year 6 children follow programmes of transition set up with the receiving schools. Staff from Key Stage 3 schools make visits here to meet children and each pupil spends time in the school they will be joining.
Children coming into Rowan School have individual transition arrangements according to need. We make a 'book of my school' with photographs of staff, classmates and places in school so that children can familiarise themselves and have reminders over the time before they come to us.
